David Meulemans - Cabaret Singer
David Meulemans
is as comfortable on the big stage as he is in the most intimate of venues. A Midwest native, David earned his Bachelors of Music from Lawrence Conservatory of Music, in Appleton, Wisconsin (1990). Appleton is also where he began his performing career with stage productions, concert work, recordings, and solo cabaret shows. From age 6 he was involved in music through school, church, and community productions.
Moving to South Florida in 1998, David found himself in the midst of a thriving arts scene, and proceeded to immerse himself in community choruses, church music, professional and community theatre, and progressed to Broadway Showcases, Cabaret and recordings as well as student and professional films, and television. David’s credits include principle roles in Broadway style classics as Company, Stop the World, I Want to Get Off, La Cage au Folles, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Carousel, Oklahoma, Kiss Me, Kate, the Sound of Music, Hello Dolly , many others.
He is equally proficient at small scale comedic productions like Forever Plaid, Musical of Musicals, The World Goes Round, The Gifts of the Magi, A Grand Night for Singing, and zany productions like Cannibal and The Andrews Brothers, as well as light opera, classical opera, jazz and popular music. It is this wealth of musical experience that provides context and content for his cabaret performances.
David’s contagious affinity for music, and his artistry have lead to numerous opportunities to perform with musical icons like Carol Channing and Davy Jones. David has done guest star turns with MAC award winners Tommy Femia and Steven Brimberg, and has worked with Tony award winning Director/Choreographer Michael Leeds, and originated the role of Herve in “Fools Paradise” a Broadway showcase directed by Jonathan Cerullo. David has recently had the privilege of recording as the voice of Tony Award Winner Russ Thacker’s protagonist in a recent recording of his autobiographical work “Flamingos in Amber”. David has studied with cabaret luminaries like Julie Wilson, Sally Mayes, Amanda McBroom, Faith Prince, Jeff Harnar.
Drawing on his extensive experiences, David brings a full spectrum of emotions, colors, and styles to his cabaret performances, for which he has gained a tremendously favorable reputation in South Florida, on the Gulf Coast, and his native Midwest. This popularity is demonstrated by his schedule which includes several performances weekly. Appearances annually number well over 200. David was selected to be one of the performers in the 2011 “International Cabaret Conference at Yale” in July of 2011. David’s debut at the famous “Don’t Tell Mama’s Cabaret” in New York City was October 2011. His cabaret home in NYC was the Metropolitan where he was a frequent headliner.
From there, David has performed in clubs around the U.S., including venues in Chicago, St. Louis, Boston Fort Lauderdale, Provincetown, and others, and I London, the famous Café Zedel in London’s West End, and The Pheasantry on King’s Road, London.
Currently a partner in three touring cabaret shows, in addition to his many solo shows, David and partner Meri Ziev tour “Steve and Eydie, a Celebration” . Borscht Belt Buddies, with co-star Carla Gordon currently tours in the Chicago area, and with Sharon Ruben in “Two Guys and a Doll” opening in NYC 2020.

Highlights of her career include 18 years traveling and performing for Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Cunard Cruise Lines as a main stage headliner and front woman of her jazz quartet. Most recently featured vocalist onboard the ocean liners Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria.

“Modern Day Diva” is the theme of her one woman show that includes music from the Great American Songbook and popular hits from famous divas such as Bette Midler, Rosemary Clooney, Cher, Ella Fitzgerald and Adele.

By age seventeen,
Larry was already performing his songs at school, and had helped form his first band, which was called Milestone. From that moment on, Larry Brendler has worked full time as a musician and entertainer. At age eighteen, Larry was in a professional Top 40 and Oldies band called Instant Replay, which played throughout the Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington D.C. areas in night clubs and Military Bases. Larry played piano, keyboards and sang lead vocals. He later joined a trio called Rising Star, which played an even greater variety of music. In the Spring of 1982, Larry had his first piano bar job at The Seven Locks Inn, where he played for four months until he left for College at The University of Miami in Florida. For five years, Larry studied Classical Music Theory & Composition, piano, and voice. While at College, Larry began performing throughout the Dade County area, including a stint as Jackie Mason’s opening act, doing seven shows at The Newport Hotel in Miami Beach.
By the Mid 1980’s, Larry Brendler had long term engagements in South Florida at many well known restaurants and Private Clubs such as The Cricket Club, The Place For Steak, Mr. Clydes, The Big Splash and Frankie’s in Fort Lauderdale. During this time, Larry occasionally traveled back to Washington D.C. to perform for then Vice President George Bush at The Senate Building, Ted Koppel at the Sheraton for CNN, Larry King for a Variety Club Affair, and opened for Pearl Bailey at The Kennedy Center.

On Dec 16th, 1986, Larry began a long run at The Fontainebleau Hilton Resort & Spa in Miami Beach, Florida starting first in The La Ronde Room, and moving to The Garden Lobby Bar on September 14th, 1987, where he performed six nights a week until February 22nd, 1995. After his long engagement at The Fontainebleu, Larry entertained at The Hoot Toot & Whistle Restaurant in Delray Beach, Florida for almost three years, while also entertaining on and off at Il Tartufo in Fort Lauderdale on Las Olas Blvd for four years. Since October 6th, 2000, Larry has been appearing at Players Club Restaurant and Piano Bar every weekend in Wellington, Florida, and has received rave reviews from Boca Magazine(Best One Man Band of 2004), The Town Crier, Wellington Magazine, and Industry Magazine. Larry has also been a regular at The Boca West Country Club(the No. 1 country Club in Florida) since 2005 performing with Chris Autore in a lively dueling piano act.
However, since 1984, Larry has performed throughout the state of Florida for numerous Weddings, Birthday Parties, Anniversaries, Engagement parties, Bar Mitzvahs and corporate functions as a One Man Band, Pianist, vocalist, DJ, and entertainer. He performs at Country Clubs, Banquet Facilities, Night Clubs, Hotels and Active Adult Communities as well.

a popular tenor here in South Florida, has appeared multiple times abroad – most recently in London, and to sold out audiences in Sweden and Finland.
He has performed his one-man show “The 11 O’ Clock Spots” on Windstar and Seabourn cruise lines.
James has shared the stage with Barbara Cook at The Broward Center, Toni Braxton at the Flamingo in Las Vegas, and Patti LaBelle for AIDS Walk South Florida,
and is featured on Deanne Martin’s (Dean’s daughter) CD, Memories Are Made of This. James’s first CD was entitled, To Broadway and Beyond,
including the Irving Berlin hit, There’s No Business Like Show Business.
